Hello!!

Harley is now 8 years old and continues to be a wonderful pet.  Her mild manner is enjoyed by all.  We still camp all summer long and she is always a big hit.  She wants love from everyone she meets and leans on them for as much petting as she can get.  She still enjoys the water, jumping head first into the ocean waves or being squirt with the hose.  Bath time is a completely different story!  She hates the tub.

We have never regretted our choice of an American Mastiff and love her to death.  She's definitely a daddy's girl, though.  My husband works overnights and when he gets home and gets into bed, Harley will moan and yell at me to get out of bed so she can get in!  Brian always said we should have named her Mona because of the way she talks back to us.

We hope all is well with all of your furbabies!

Hi Sandy,

Once again, thanks for the invite but we won't be able to attend the reunion.  Harley is still the wonderful dog she has always been.  She continues to be a love.  She's 6 now and although she's been gray in the muzzle since before 2, she hasn't gotten that much grayer.  She's always a huge hit at the beach or wherever we take her.  We love her so much!

Hope all is well with your human family and your pups!

Take care,
Desiree

Hi Sandy,

How is everything?  I can't believe that Harley is two already!!  Last vet visit put her at 113 lbs a few months ago for her shots.  She's beautifully slender and tall.  We have been taking her camping with us this summer and she does great, although she does love coming home.  We were just on our longest campout - a week upstate NY - and she was quite the hit.  Everyone stops us when we are walking with her to meet her.  She even was called "stunning" this week.

She's such an unbelievable mush.  She will love on anyone that will let her.  The leaning is so amazing.  Once you're petting her, she's leaning on you.  Of course, she's knocked a couple of people off balance here and there - ok, well, a lot!!  Sometimes when I'm doing my dishes she will lean me right into the cabinets.  She is so friendly, wants to be right with the other dogs - and she's still trying to be submissive and tries to get under even the tiniest of dogs.  Let me tell you, she is FAST.  She just loves the beach and she'll take off like a rocket.  Of course, the getting her to come back to us is always a challenge as she doesn't like the word "come."  We are working on that and it seems that as she gets older, she's better at obeying.

The other day, I was sitting in my recliner and wouldn't you know it, Harley wanted in and she climbed right up into my lap.  She's happiest when she's with her people.  She's such a joy to have around.  And boy is she always around.  It's like she knows when we're getting ready to leave the house because that's when she's under foot more than usual.  Constantly tripping over that dog!!

She seems to love our guinea pig, Buster.  A bit jealous, I think, too.  When she hears me talking to Buster downstairs and she's upstairs - she bolts down there and puts her nose right into the cage.  One of the funniest things she's done with Buster so far is if we give Buster a carrot when he's on the floor, Harley will come right over and gently take the carrot from him.  It's hilarious to see that big head taking a little carrot from a guinea pig!  She's so gentle - although she loves to push Buster around with her nose.

Talk to you again,
Desiree

Hi Sandy,

Today Harley was taking a drink and I went downstairs to watch TV.  When she was done, she started down the stairs to join me and about half way down the stairs, the side wall ends and it's open to the downstairs.  Well, Harley must not have been sure she wanted to come down or to make sure I really was there because she lowered her head and poked it around the wall and when she did, about half of the water she "drank" came pouring out of her jowls complete with floaters of her last cookie.  It was hysterical, it's like I didn't know what to do - it just kept coming.  Remember that TV show with Erkel?  That's exactly what she looked like = Did I do that?

We just continue to love her to pieces.  She's growing like crazy and what a personality.  Today she did manage to sneak behind my daughter's back at the table and grabbed her pizza right off her plate - and we have one of the counter height tables!  Of course I had to reprimand her and took what I could get of the pizza out of her mouth.  What a little sneak!

I think I've mentioned it before about Harley's "groaning and moaning."  She is quite a complainer.  She's taken to moaning at the back door when she needs to out, which is good.  But then again, she moans and groans when she sits or when she's bored, etc...... Too cute

Here are some new pics.  Two of them are of a friend of ours who is about 6 feet tall holding her.  Cute.

I'll send some new pics soon.
