Sandy,

Here are a few pictures of our handsome boy.  He is such a good dog; my husband and I really love this breed!

Hope all is well with you, your husband and all your pups!

Hi, Sandy!

Here are a few recent pictures of Zeke and his adopted brother, Rocky.  Zeke had his first year checkup and shots a few weeks ago and weighs in at 140 lbs and is still very well behaved, unlike his adopted brother, Rocky, who is a typical Lab pup - but we love them both!  We did learn one thing - when Zeke broke one of his back toes months ago (and will always be a mystery how) that you can't keep a splint on a mastiff.  I went back and forth everyday for a week to the Vet trying to fit or refit the splint and wrap the toe but Zeke didn't keep it on very long.  After a week, we just decided to take it off and just walked him in the backyard on a leash for almost 4 weeks to keep him from running on it.  It healed very nicely.

Hi, Sandy!

Hope you and Jim enjoyed the holidays.  We sure did with Zeke!  On a very sad note we had to put our 12 yr. old Yellow Lab, Boomer, down on December 7.  Zeke is a very social dog so I knew I'd be looking for a rescue dog shortly but my sons surprised me with a Black Lab puppy for Christmas who we named Rocky.  Zeke and Rocky bonded immediately and it seems like Zeke went from puppy to mature adolescent overnight.

At six months old Zeke weighs 90 lbs. and has lots more growing to do (I swear he grows bigger overnight!).  His legs have gotten very long and his body remains lean.  Zeke has graduated from both his puppy classes and intermediate classes and is a well-behaved and very smart dog.

Enjoy these new pictures of Zeke at 5 and 6 months old.

Sincerely,
Janice

Hi, Sandy!

Sorry I haven't written sooner but Zeke has kept me very busy and this weekend I am babysitting two other dogs besides my Boomer and Zeke so I must say the "socializing" is going very well!   Zeke checked in at a little over 38 pounds when I took him for his 12-week check-up so it looks like he has doubled his weight since we picked him up.  He has attended his third week of puppy classes (the only other dog in the class is a miniature dachshund and they get along fabulously) and Zeke is very smart and picks things up very quickly (house-breaking is a little slower).

Boomer, my 11 and 1\2 year old Lab has warmed up to him by sharing toys and playing tug of war - Boomer is very gentle with Zeke but also lets Zeke know when it is time to stop playing.  They eat side-by-side and there is never a problem.   Zeke is crated for about 4 hours a day, Monday through Friday but sleeps on the floor in our bedroom each night and never has a potty accident during the night.  He has adapted so well, especially since he spent quite a bit of time in the car the first few days we had him - visiting two separate houses in NJ before taking him home on that long drive back to Florida.  I think he thought his new home was the car!

I'll send more pix another time.

Sincerely,
Janice
