Dear Sandy and Jim,

Thanks so much for the invitation to the upcoming reunion!  We (Lyra, Jonathan and Natasha) really wish we could make it to represent the class of 2011!  Alas, Lyra isn’t a fan of flying and prefers to stick closer to home here in South Pasadena, CA. She barely tolerates car rides to the ocean and the desert, but loves exploring our nearby canyon and hanging out with Jonathan at the office where she has a large fan base at Caltech University.  We can’t believe she’ll turn 5 this November!  She’s still so puppy-like and loves scrambling around with a couple of young puppies in the neighborhood.  As you can tell from the photos, she is a total goofball getting on her back almost every morning for a good belly scratch.

She lost her baby-mama Gaby earlier this year after reaching a ripe old age, but she bounced back quicker than ever and hogs all of our attention and love with cuddles on the couch and “sneaking” into the bed until someone sneezes or moves the wrong way.  We only have a queen bed and she likes to take up as much room as she can!

We still haven’t figured out whether she wants a puppy or not.  For now, she is loving being the boss of us.  Her demeanor is still as sweet, inquisitive and playful as when we first met her at your place in January 2012.  She’s marvelous and we’re completely taken with her.

Hope you’re all well and have a fun reunion.

Warmest Wishes,
Lyra, Jonathan and Natasha

Dear Sandy,

Happy new year to you!  Hope you are all well!  Over a year ago, we were lucky enough to come and claim dear Lyra.  Here she is, when she stops to pose for a moment with her gorgeous self, weighing in at 137 pounds with more skin to grow into.  She's the biggest love in the world... she brilliantly sneaks into the bed when we're fast asleep.  She sleeps in a bit before her California trek everyday rain or hot.

We tried to hang out with her in Manhattan Beach over the weekend and she was so overly loved and pursued that we had to take off after a couple of hours to give her a break from attention.  She's just too loved and beautiful.  We think she prefers her private life with us and friends in a quieter atmosphere where she can just be herself without exhausting attention.  Who wouldn't prefer to hang by a cafe or burger joint without everyone in your face all the time?  Such is life in SoCal; thank goodness she's an Eastside pup with fewer demands.

In the meantime, she thrives, romps, plays and loves.  Thank you so much again for the privilege... It's been a magnificent year with her!!

Warmest regards,
Natasha

Dear Sandy,

Hope you're having a good summer so far!  Lyra's been doing so well with such a great sense of humor.  She loves to smudge us whenever we get dressed for an evening dinner out.  She's just a couple of months away from Good Canine Certification.  We've been having a ball with her out and about.  She had her spay procedure yesterday.  At almost 8.5 months, she weighed in a sweet 111.8 lbs.   Here's a recent photo of her with her pal Gaby.  We're planning on taking her back to the beach again at the end of the week.

Take care,
Natasha

Jonathan finally got Lyra to sit for a moment for this portrait.  Every time I try to take a snap shot, she comes trotting to me (of course I cook chicken breasts, turkey hot dog snacks and ground beef all day long).  We got a station wagon (no joke, to bring her to cafes and more interesting walks with new people and kids).  We think she's already 100 lbs. at 6.75 months.  We love her so much.  What else can one say?  She's happy, we're happy.

Sending you all our warm wishes,
Lyra, Gaby + the two of us

Dear Sandy,

Hope this finds you well and happy.  Time has been flying by and we've been having too much fun with Lyra to have taken adequate photos.  Suffice it to say, even our vet has asked to keep her.  No way!  Some of our friends have asked us to go away overnight to keep her.... no way!  Not yet ;)

She's just finished her first set of training classes with a trainer.  She outsmarts us by trying to anticipate her commands in advance.  In the meantime, she loves to play little jokes on us.  She's been a great source of comfort to JK, myself and Gaby after we lost our beautiful 16 1/2 year old Loki last week.   Here are a few photos of her.  We haven't snapped them in better action because she's either too cute to remember or comes to us too quickly for kisses.

Sending along all of our warmest wishes,
Natasha, JK, Gaby and Lyra

Hi Sandy!

Here is a brief synopsis of Lyra's first week at home.  She's definitely a natural fit into the family.  All the pups are in love.  She's an absolute joy and still a definite thinker.  She's been settling into her routine as she explores the house and yard.  Thank you so much again for the privilege of having her in our lives.  Hope you're getting some much deserved rest this weekend after raising such amazing pups.

More updates later.  In the meantime, we send along our warmest wishes,
Natasha and Jonathan, Lyra, Gaby and Loki
