Hi Sandy!  Remember me?  It's Hero, aka puppenstein!  I've grown a lot since I last saw you, so you may not recognize me.  My family says I'm a very good boy, doing very well and says I'm quite the charmer.  I'm going to obedience school and learning manners, but the part I really like is hanging out with the other puppies.  Mom says I'm the smartest one in the class because I learn very quickly, so I don't know why she makes me practice at home, but at least she gives me treats.  I love treats.  I love to go for walks, but my favorite thing to do is lay down with Dad on the couch. I hope you all are doing well and please tell all the big dogs I said hello. Love, Hero

Hi Sandy,

Hero is doing great!  He has gotten over his shyness around strangers, and in fact he has become very social and loves to meet new people and dogs.  Our neighbor has a Pyrenese Mountain Dog that is 9 months old and they love to play together.  Every time I take him out he looks over to see if she is outside!  He loves our fed ex delivery guy and when the truck doesn't stop at our house he looks at me with a sad face.  He loves sitting out front and watching all of the comings and goings, the sights and sounds, the kids riding their bikes and skateboards.  He loves going for walks around the neighborhood and is getting better on the leash.

He is doing really well on his schedule and if we are late to take him upstairs for bed time he flops down or goes into the kennel in the living room.  It takes a little coaxing and humor but we do manage to get him to go outside one last time and get him upstairs. lol.  He is quite the drama pup and is hilarious with his expressions.  He makes me laugh when he is trying to be sneaky because he always gives the innocent puppy face while being ornery!  The biting is getting better, though still a work in progress.  He has learned soft biting as opposed to all out shark mouth unless he is wound up...  He will be going to puppy school soon, though I'm sure to him it will be more like social hour!

He has grown quite a bit and it's amazing how much he has changed in the last four weeks.  He's starting to get his big boy face and the cute wrinkles on his forehead when he furloughs his brow.  He's just over 35 pounds!  He eats well and we have started limiting him to three times day as opposed to free feeding.  He absolutely goes bonkers for apples!  I never knew dogs liked fruit, but that is one of his favorite treats.

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and hope that it was filled with love and joy.  This has been one of the best Christmas's that we have had in a very long time. :)

Hero is settling in nicely and today we picked up a bell for the front door.  We jingled it and then took him out.  Soon after, he jingled it and sat by the door!  He's a smart boy!  He loves to try to play with our cat Shadow, and Shadow staying true to form is unamused.  hahaha.  They have sniffed each other and even when Hero barks and tries to play, Shadow is patient and tolerant and doesn't hiss.  This is huge!  Hero definitely is a character and occasionally reminds me of a toddler up to no good.  He makes us laugh, is very sweet and loving and we couldn't be happier.
