Hi Sandy,
Oscar is doing great, in fact, he is going to be a big brother! Steve and I are expecting a baby in September.
We recently fenced in our yard and Oscar just loves it, especially the mud after it rains!
He enjoys digging muddy holes and then getting rinsed off with the hose. (Although he doesn't quite understand
why we don't readily welcome him into the house all caked in mud.) As long as it is not too hot, he wants
to be outside. He hates the heat and we have to bribe him to go out to 'go' if it is really hot.
We have ended our crate training. About 2 months ago, we started to leave him out if we were going to be
gone a short time and gradually worked him up to a full work day. He was crate free in less than a week!
He does absolutely nothing when we are not home. Everything is exactly the way we left it. We don't even
have to worry about putting away shoes. The only thing he will get if left out is tissues, his most favorite snack.
We are very proud of him for being able to be completely trusted by 10 months old.
He is very good will adults, we are still working on curbing the jumping up (only for men.) This is getting
much better. He loves little kids and is very gentle with them, never jumping up. He also loves other dogs,
but can't understand why some dogs don't like him. His trainer brags about him all the time and says that he is
her 'poster student.'
Overall, he is very well-mannered and very funny and goofy. He is also very smart. He asks for everything
he needs. If he is hot and wants the fan on, he will stand in front of it and bark. He does the same with
water, food, going out, ice cubes, etc. All of our friends and family love the fact that he looks out the
front window and watches the kids play or people walking down the street. He never barks, just rests his head
on the windowsill. It is very cute.
He is a much loved member of our family. Oscar is definitely more popular than we are. Everyone comes
over to see him now. We absolutely adore him! He is wonderful dog!
